Happy New Year! Is it too late to wish you a happy new year?

Recently we went away and when we go on holiday we have quite a few ready meals because I just can't be bothered cooking and so we were left with a few ready meal boxes and Bella was playing with one of the empty ones and no offense 'Weight Watchers Creamy Chicken & Mushroom' but you're not the prettiest box around so I decided to jazz it up a little, it was the perfect size for a mini cereal box but I guess it could have been anything else really.

Anyway, here's a little How-to on what to do when covering a box. It's not rocket science, I'm sure you all know how to do it anyway but just in case you don't, here are some quick instructions!

You will need:

First things first, make sure your box fits on your nice card. Mine didn't so had to add a bit extra onto the end.

And then glue it down. Put the glue on the printed side of the box and stick it on the back of your nice card (i did this wrong, glued it to the nice side of card, gasped, quickly ripped it off and flipped it over, it was fine in the end!)

Then verrrrrry carefully get your ruler and knife and slice around the outside of the box, cutting the card into the box shape. You could use scissors, a knife is more precise. I'm sure there's some cutting rule where you are never supposed to cut towards your body, always away from it, but everytime I try to do that I end up twisting about very awkardly so I always break that rule. And no accidents yet!

And then glue all the tabs...

And fold it all back in the box shape again. You could score the folds to make it easier but mine folded super easily without scoring. Depends on the thickness of your card.

And then you have a nice pretty box! Well, if you're like me, there were some edges that looked a little scruffy so I used some washi tape (washi tape is the best, it's just like cool masking tape) to go along the edges. I went a little washi tape crazy and ended up doing every single edge there was, even on the hidden tabs-you don't need to do that!

Now you can draw on the front with a pen or something, but I did this quick illustration for mine so do feel free to nab it and print it out!!

And here's our box!

Not the best photo, it's not really photo taking weather here. And there are a few signs of wear and tear as Bella has been playing with it. Blue cheerios, imagine that! Normal cereal seems so dull now!
